Have you always been healthy and happy? Share your journey, which has landed you in the health industry…
My passion for health and wellness began when visited my doctor a few years ago while I was struggling with depression and anxiety. At my worst I was experiencing a panic attack every single day. Instead of prescribing drugs, she taught me how to use food as medicine. We also spoke about meditation, breathing, yoga and writing. I then got in touch with an amazing Naturopath.
I am extremely grateful that I could get back on track without drugs and am constantly amazed at this awesome new world of health and wellness that I’ve been introduced to.
Tell us about how you contribute to the health and happiness of others.
I love inspiring my clients through nutrition, self love and movement.
Fitness isn’t a punishment; it’s a blessing. Nutrition isn’t restrictive; it’s healing. Health isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing and may not look the same for everyone, but it is something worth fighting for.
What do you believe is most important to nourish the body for optimal health and happiness?
Good health starts from the inside out. You can drink 10 green smoothies a day but if you’re constantly stressed or hating yourself, you will never be healthy.
What food, drinks and other important regimens make up your typical day?
I like to change my day up depending on how I’m feeling. My daily non-negotiables are moving my body, meditation, green juice and at least 8 hours sleep.
What do you supplement your diet with?
I supplement with a B-complex, probiotics, vitamin C, zinc and a multi vitamin, plus I sneak super foods into every meal!
What was your latest inspiring health read?
The Whole Pantry by Belle Gibson – love her, and her book is magic.
Share with us a favourite health and happiness tip and recipe…
Eat wholefoods – food in its natural state (or as close as possible to its natural state). Our body knows how to digest and assimilate real food. It does not know how to digest additives, preservatives, colours and flavours.
Today I’m sharing my favourite cereal recipe. You can enjoy this cereal with milk (I love almond milk), or on top of your fruit and yoghurt (greek or coconut are best).
Gluten Free Cereal
- ¼ cup puffed rice, millet or quinoa (if you’re avoiding grains choose the quinoa – I used the rice in my recipe)
- 1 tablespoon goji berries
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon linseeds (flaxseeds)
- 1 tablespoon buckwheat (activated)
- 1 tablespoon pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
- 1 tablespoon cacao nibs
- 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
- ¼ cup finely chopped brazil nuts (any nuts work well – you can even buy chopped almonds from the supermarket if you don’t have much time)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and store in an airtight container or jar.
You may wish to double the ingredients to make a large batch that will last you a couple of weeks.Enjoy.
Thanks Emily 🙂
